Case Studies

  • The Problem

Through 2015 and 2016, IT investment was directed towards www.harrods.com. A replacement e-commerce platform launched in the expectation that online growth would be driven by an enhanced customer experience with access to a wider range of products and promotions. Harrods wanted a clear three year IT Strategy that would enhance revenue growth through adoption of a full omni-channel business platform, increasing online usage from 15% to 55%.

    The Solution

Creation of an IT Strategy to reflect business vision, clear and concise, which ultimately acted for agreement between IT team, sponsors and stakeholders. Review of IT portfolio with a detailed remediation plan for addressing weaknesses and risks and making new technology investments linked fully supported by a business case.

Assessment of current IT capability maturity with a prioritised
improvement plan Production of a sourcing strategy with a target sourcing model and three year projections.

  • The Problem

IDB had developed a 10 year business strategy. The strategy enables IDB to promote comprehensive human development, focusing on alleviating poverty, improving health, promoting education, improving governance and prospering the member countries people. IDB needed to execute this strategy through the creation of an IT strategy and the adoption of a defined enterprise architecture capability.

    The Solution

We rapidly established an enterprise architecture capability to a defined maturity level.

    This included:

    • Definition of the goals, objectives and principles. The architecture vision defined a practical definition of how the strategy should be implemented across IDB.
    • Establishment and operationalisation of EA governance.
    • Capture, development and assessment of the baseline enterprise architecture.
    • Definition of the target enterprise architecture across the business, data, application, integration, technology and security domains.
    • Transformation plan, architecture roadmaps development and work package definition towards the formation of an enterprise transformation aligned to the strategic plan.

Testimonials

  • I engaged with Enterprise Architects to assist in a deploying a quick start methodology to implement a Strategy and Architecture practice from scratch. Enterprise Architects helped ensure a pragmatic agreement was reached that gave the right balance of flexibility but also (importantly) credibility in the EA offering, based on tried and tested experience. As a customer buying a service it is important that the relationship is NOT transactional and that the service provider act as a partner and advises against you making the wrong decision. The Enterprise Architects team not only delivered on the programme but also on the relationship. I would be happy to endorse Enterprise Architects for anyone wanting to go on a similar journey.

  • Enterprise Architects provided a team & business full of architects backed by deep method and experience. Importantly they work in a very collaborative and open manner. I had the pleasure of working with the Enterprise Architects team for about 6 months and must say Jamie leads by example. Enterprise Architects are extremely knowledgeable and are not afraid to tell and give the hard messages. It would be a pleasure to engage with the Enterprise Architects team again.

    Pat Graham

    CIO
  • IDB spent two years looking for a suitable partner competent in providing enterprise architecture services. Enterprise Architects became a partner of IDB by winning a competitive tender. Boston consulting group had developed a 10 year business strategy to promote IDB’s core business values. Enterprise Architects were able to turn the business strategy into a transformation plan implemented by using their enterprise architecture methodology to define a knowledge base of the current enterprise architecture, target architecture and transformation roadmap. The key deliverables have been endorsed by his excellency the VP for operations. This means that EA is now used to govern the transformation programme. Enterprise Architects are a clever and practical organisation.
